Blood pressure plays a HUGE role in preventing heart disease, stroke, and other serious health issues. Regular monitoring helps catch problems early and make educated treatment decisions. But for many seniors, getting frequent blood pressure checks can be inconvenient or difficult. Fortunately, the Orange Public Library has partnered with the American Heart Association to allow you to test yourself at home.
The Orange Public Library now offers blood pressure kits available for checkout to library cardholders. Each kit includes:
- Blood pressure monitor
- Instructions for accurate measurement
- Resources for managing blood pressure
- Educational handouts
- Tracking log for healthcare providers
- Connections to clinical care
- Participant survey
Seniors and other adults 18 and older can borrow these kits for three weeks, with the option to renew if there are no holds. To borrow a kit, simply visit Orange Public Library, 407 E. Chapman Ave., Orange, CA 92866, sign the lending and liability agreements, and pick up the kit.
