Our Inspiration
Home Instead of Volusia County was founded in 1997 by senior care advocate Lynne Fagan. As a local nursing home owner, Lynne saw that the most dignified way for seniors to age was at home—with safety, independence, and compassion. She became a pioneer in homecare and a champion for legislative reform to improve senior services across Florida. What began as a one-person operation is now one of the largest and most respected homecare agencies in the state—and a top leader throughout the Home Instead franchise network.
OWNER, Shiv Puri
Shiv acquired Home Instead in 2022 after caring for his mother-in-law during her Stage 4 cancer journey. That personal experience drives his commitment to dignified, reliable in-home care for other families. A graduate of NYU’s Stern School of Business, Shiv brings 20+ years of leadership in hospitality & finance. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his wife and two children, playing drums, and cooking family meals.
ADMINISTRATOR & MANAGER, Theresa Smith
Theresa has been a cornerstone of Home Instead of Volusia County for over 25 years, bringing unmatched depth of experience and leadership. She oversees all day-to-day operations and ensures the agency meets the highest standards set by Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. With a professional background in nursing home care and a lifelong dedication to serving seniors, Theresa brings both compassion and precision to her role. Families and caregivers alike trust her calm presence and wealth of knowledge.
SALES & MARKETING - Audrey Bellini
Sales & Marketing is the community’s connection to Home Instead. As experts in homecare, they regularly meet with healthcare providers like hospitals, rehab centers and skilled nursing facilities to provide education and resources on how Home Instead helps seniors maintain their independence and dignity.
