Matthew Carden, Franchise Owner

Owning a Home Instead Senior Care® franchise is extremely personal to me. I was blessed to be raised within a few miles of all four of my grandparents, and I experienced the joy of frequently playing at their homes, spending the night, and eating dinner with them.

I watched as my parents made difficult decisions with limited choices for my aging grandparents. Back in those days, there wasn’t a service to send Caregivers to allow my grandparents to live independently in their own homes.

Today, Home Instead Senior Care® provides seniors the opportunity to fulfill their desire to live safely at home. That’s what gives me great pride in owning Home Instead Senior Care and serving all the seniors in the Upstate.

Sabrina Swafford General Manager

Sabrina Swafford, General Manager

Sabrina joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in the Oconee & Pickens office in November 2015 as the Recruitment and Retention Coordinator. It wasn’t long before she explored staffing—and found her passion. With over eight years of experience in retail management and customer service, Sabrina brings a people-centered approach and a natural talent for leadership.

After mastering both recruitment and staffing, Sabrina stepped into the role of General Manager, where she now leads the onboarding of all new clients and ensures a seamless, compassionate care experience from day one. She is also deeply committed to team integration, working to involve every team member in all aspects of the business—fostering collaboration, communication, and a strong sense of purpose across the board.

A proud local, Sabrina was born and raised in the area and has strong roots in both the Oconee and Pickens communities. When she’s off the clock, you can find her in the stands cheering on her son Bronson, who plays football for the Seneca Bobcats—her favorite title will always be “Mom.”

Sabrina lives by the motto: “People may forget what you said, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.” It’s a principle that guides every connection she makes—at work and beyond.

Kayla

Kayla Hunnicutt, Human Resource Manager

With over seven years of dedicated experience in the healthcare industry, I have developed a strong foundation in patient care, clinical support, and healthcare operations. My career has been driven by a passion for helping people. Over the years I have gained hands-on experience in both clinical and administrative settings. I take pride in my ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring that every interaction is guided by empathy and professionalism. I believe in making a wonderful lasting impression with all my interactions. When I’m not at work, life revolves around my family and our goofy, lovable Goldendoodle, Oakley. My son, Kayson, is in band so our weeks are often spent with rehearsals and performances. Between music, family time, and spontaneous outdoor adventures, there’s never a dull moment in our house. Balancing work, family life, and a playful pup has taught me to appreciate the little things- laughter, togetherness, and the joy that comes from a life full of heart and purpose.
