Home Instead Scheduling Coordinator Jessica Williams said Trinity doesn’t shy away from difficulties. “Trinity is one of our new Care Pros,” Jessica said, “but she has some grit about her. She has worked on some of our more challenging cases, and she really rose to the occasion wonderfully. She takes any criticism and adapts to all situations. She is our honoree for March.”
Ten months ago, Trinity chose to assist seniors and their families on behalf of the award-winning Home Instead franchise that serves south-central Houston, including Arcola, Bellaire, Pearland, Meyerland, Sugar Land, Sweetwater, Fresno, Greatwood and Missouri City. Greg Gomez-Mira has served as the Home Instead franchise’s owner for 12 years. “I found Home Instead online after having heard some good things and having read some great reviews,” Trinity said.
For the past three years, Trinity also has been a family caregiver for a loved one. “I wanted to explore my options for a good job, go out and meet people and provide them with the grace and love I have to offer,” Trinity said. “What I like most about being a Home Instead Care Professional is being able to work with my clients. They have shown me so much love and welcome me with open arms.”
Trinity added: “I also love that the office workers are always available, ready to help and have much understanding for what a Care Pro needs and the challenges we face. I love my job, and I’m so grateful to be able to make my clients’ days better as much as they make mine better.”
In addition to her strong companionship skills, Trinity provides safety assurance, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and transportation and errands. She offers personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment, hospice support and mobility. By expertly doing so, Trinity not only assists her clients, but helps their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.
To build on their knowledge and experience, Trinity and other Houston-area Care Pros are offered the opportunity to increase their dementia-care skills by taking part in the Home Instead network’s one-of-a-kind training protocol. Home Instead’s Person-Centered Care Training for Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association® for incorporating the evidence-based dementia-care practice recommendations in these topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.
By providing physical help such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders and personal care or by offering emotional support in a companionship role, Trinity touches lives, which impacts her soul. Trinity focused on Home Instead’s training, processes and procedures of successful caregiving, which helped Trinity achieve Care Pro of the Month status.
Jessica, who announced Trinity’s award, explained that Trinity and the franchise’s other honorees have shown they have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Empathy and compassion are taken into account for the award, as well as skill and wisdom for dealing with challenging situations.
