Amy Benson, Franchise Owner
Amy Benson began her senior care career in 1990, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a skilled nursing facility. Since that time, she has been a Staff Development assistant training new Nursing Assistants, a Unit Clerk coordinating patient care, a Staffing Coordinator creating schedules, and a Client Care Coordinator for Home Instead. Quickly realizing she had found her calling, Amy purchased her franchise in 2009. She says that while being her own boss is a dream come true, owning her own business that helps so many people is the reason she loves being a Home Instead owner. “Keeping seniors independent and living in their own homes” is her favorite way to describe what we do here at Home Instead.
Amy lives in Burlington and has been happily married to her husband Richard since 1999. They have twin daughters, Joanie and Justine, born in 2001.
Maria Barriga, Retention and Engagement Coordinator
Maria Barriga began her career working for Home Instead as a Care Professional in 2019. Maria soon realized that working with seniors was her passion and being able to make a change in people’s lives became more than just a job for her. Her dedication and caring heart led her to want to grow more and share her expertise with others. Maria transitioned into the Home Instead office as a Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator in March 2023. Her goal is to be able to share her experience and inspire other Care Professionals.
Outside of work Maria enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys a nice beach view and nature walks.
